Paisios Velichkovsky (1722-1794) was an influential Eastern Orthodox monk and elder who spearheaded spiritual revival in Eastern Europe and Russia. Born in Ukraine, he eventually settled at the Neamț Monastery in Moldavia, which became a major center of monastic renewal.
