Životopis

Casimir (1458-1484) was a Polish and Lithuanian prince canonized as a saint despite never entering religious life. Born to King Casimir IV of Poland, he exemplified virtue in secular life, rejecting the temptations of his royal position. He was known for his extraordinary piety, spending long hours in prayer and maintaining strict ascetical practices including fasting and celibacy. Though politically involved, Casimir resisted corruption and worldly ambition, earning respect for his integrity and moral courage. He supported the poor generously and advocated for mercy in legal judgments. At twenty-six, he died of tuberculosis, ending a short but profoundly holy life. His death sparked immediate popular veneration, and miracles were attributed to his intercession. Casimir's canonization emphasized that sanctity is accessible to all states of life, including laypeople and those in positions of temporal power. He remains a powerful example of youthful holiness and virtue for Catholic young people today.
