Guardian Angels

Guardian Angels are celestial beings appointed by God to watch over and protect individual human souls throughout their lives. While not historical persons, their reality is affirmed in Scripture and Church teaching, including Jesus's reference to guardian angels in Matthew 18:10. Catholic tradition emphasizes that each person receives a guardian angel at conception or birth, assigned to guide them toward salvation and defend them against spiritual and physical dangers. These angels intercede for their charges and work mysteriously in human affairs, often preventing harm or guiding people toward grace. The liturgical celebration of Guardian Angels reflects the Church's recognition of their essential role in divine providence. The feast encourages the faithful to acknowledge their angelic protectors, maintain awareness of their presence, and cultivate devotion to these spiritual companions who tirelessly serve God's purposes in human lives.
