Born in Brindisi, Italy, he mastered twelve languages, enabling him to serve as a diplomatic envoy and missionary throughout Europe and the Holy Land. His theological expertise made him a respected voice in doctrinal disputes, while his scriptural commentaries demonstrated profound biblical scholarship. Lawrence served as Superior General of the Capuchins and undertook important religious missions, including efforts to reconcile Protestants with Rome and to combat Islamic expansion. He negotiated peace treaties and religious settlements, leveraging his diplomatic acumen for the Church's broader interests.
