Životopis

Paul, born Saul of Tarsus, was a Pharisaic Jew and Roman citizen who initially persecuted Christians. His dramatic conversion on the Damascus Road transformed him into Christianity's greatest missionary. Called by Christ to evangelize the Gentiles, Paul undertook three missionary journeys across the Mediterranean, establishing churches throughout Asia Minor, Greece, and beyond. His thirteen epistles form a substantial portion of the New Testament and profoundly shaped Christian theology regarding grace, faith, and salvation. Paul emphasized that Christ's redemption extended to all peoples, not just Jews. He faced imprisonment, shipwrecks, and beatings yet remained steadfast. He was arrested in Jerusalem, appealed to Caesar, and eventually reached Rome. According to tradition, he was martyred in Rome around 64-67 AD under Nero, executed by beheading. Paul's legacy as theologian, missionary, and martyr made him second only to Peter in founding the Roman Church and establishing Christianity's doctrinal foundations.
