Životopis

Peter Julian Eymard (1811-1868) was a French priest who founded the Blessed Sacrament Fathers and pioneered modern Eucharistic adoration movements. Ordained in 1834, he initially served in the Marist order but felt called to a specific apostolate focused on promoting perpetual adoration and devotion to the Eucharist. In 1856, he established the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (Fathers of the Blessed Sacrament), dedicated to teaching the faithful about Eucharistic spirituality and fostering contemplative prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Eymard organized perpetual adoration chapels throughout France and beyond, making Eucharistic devotion accessible to lay Catholics. He wrote extensively on Eucharistic theology and spirituality, emphasizing the transformative power of Christ's presence. Despite organizational challenges and health struggles, he expanded his congregation to multiple countries. His spirituality influenced modern Catholic devotional life and contributed significantly to renewed emphasis on Eucharistic adoration. He was canonized in 1962 and remains influential in Eucharistic spirituality movements.
