Laura Montoya (1874-1949) was a Colombian nun and missionary who founded the Congregation of Mary Immaculate. Born in Jericó, Antioquia, she devoted her life to evangelizing indigenous communities in remote regions of Colombia and Ecuador. Recognizing the need for culturally appropriate missionary work, she established schools and trained indigenous catechists to spread the Gospel within their own communities. Her approach emphasized respect for indigenous cultures while promoting Christian education.
