Životopis

Born in Rome in 1384 to a noble family, Frances married Lorenzo Ponziani at age twelve in an arranged union. Rather than resenting her situation, she transformed her married life into a spiritual practice, balancing family responsibilities with deep prayer and service to the poor. When plague and war devastated Rome, Frances organized relief efforts while raising her children. She experienced mystical visions, including appearances of her guardian angel, which she reported with characteristic humility. After Lorenzo's death, Frances founded the Oblates of Mary, a community of devout laywomen serving the Church without formal vows. She lived simply despite her wealth, performing menial tasks and exemplifying how sanctity flourishes within ordinary domestic life. Frances died in 1440 and was canonized in 1608, offering profound witness to the holiness available in marriage, motherhood, and widowhood.
