Timothy was an early Christian bishop and martyr mentioned prominently in the New Testament as a close companion and disciple of the Apostle Paul. Born in Lystra (in modern-day Turkey) to a Greek father and Jewish Christian mother, he became one of Paul's most trusted associates.
